Can you tell me more about the slotted feature on these cloth discs?
Of course! The slotted feature allows for better dust collection during sanding operations. This helps prolong disc life and increase overall efficiency.
When you need a coated abrasive product with a lighter touch than a cross pad, the Standard Abrasives™ Aluminum Oxide Slotted Cloth Disc is a good option and provides full coverage. While cross pads are very effective for more aggressive application in coarse grits, the slotted disc works well for less aggressive follow-up steps. The slotted construction makes the disc flexible so that the operator can push it into a hole or tube and achieve full contact with internal diameters. For push-pull applications, we recommend a Standard Abrasives™ Overlap Disc.
Aluminum Oxide for Metals, Rubber, Plastic and CompositesAluminum oxide discs are a good match for operators who desire an all-purpose versatility and economy. The mineral cuts fast while blending and deburring and is a good choice for applications on many substrates including ferrous metals, rubber, plastic and composites.
Running a Slotted Cloth DiscFor the convenience of tool-free disc changes, these slotted discs have either a threaded eyelet arbor hole that screws onto a mandrel and is secured by hand with an attachment bolt, or a built-in 8-32 threaded shaft. A shorter mandrel allows for a steadier application, while a mandrel with extended reach allows access deeper into pipe interiors. Compatible threaded Standard Abrasives™ Mandrels are available separately with thread sizes of 8-32, 3-48, and 14-20. An extended version is available with 8-32 threads.
